- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups mascarpone cheese
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
- 24 ladyfingers
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy.
- Add mascarpone cheese and mix until smooth.
- In another bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
- Combine coffee and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish.
- Quickly dip ladyfingers into the coffee mixture, then layer them in a trifle dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Before serving, dust with cocoa powder and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee liqueur.
- This dessert can be made a day in advance for better flavor.
