- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and sugar over medium heat, stirring continuously.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and let it boil for 3-4 minutes without stirring.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
- Let the chocolate sit for a few minutes until melted, then spread it evenly over the toffee.
- If using, sprinkle with chopped nuts.
- Let it cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
